After nearly a year of negotiations, the registry for .top domain names has resolved its contractual breaches with ICANN. The breach notice issued by ICANN in July 2024 highlighted several issues, including non-compliance with Uniform Rapid Suspension requests, lack of a proper process for handling DNS abuse complaints, and overdue payments to ICANN.
To address these breaches, ICANN required the .top registry to clarify its process for resolving URS disputes, add an abuse contact to its website, and settle all outstanding fees. Initially given a month to respond, the parties engaged in ongoing discussions and extensions, eventually reaching a resolution almost a year later.
